SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE REGION: EVOLUTION OF THE CONCEPT IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERN ECONOMIC CHANGE

Abstract
Introduction. The issue of research on the evolution of the concept of social infrastructure in the region is quite relevant and timely, as the transformational processes in Ukrainian economy lead to an increase in the role of the social component of the economy of the country on the basis of new qualitative characteristics.
Purpose. Analysis of approaches for understanding the term "social infrastructure of the region", study the signs and indicators of development of social infrastructure of the region.
Methods. The research was conducted using methods of terminological analysis, scientific polemics, abstract thinking, review, generalization and processing of information, classification, logical conclusions.
Results. The research was conducted using methods of terminological analysis, scientific polemics, abstract thinking, review, generalization and processing of information, classification, logical conclusions.
Originality. It was formulated and substantiated approaches to the definition of the essence of the concept "social infrastructure of the region" in accordance with its functions. The specific features of the social infrastructure of the region are singled out: location, purpose, variety of services, polycomponentity of the institutional component, dependence of the pace of development on the rates of economic growth.
Conclusion. General conclusions stated that the concept of "social infrastructure of the region" closely related to the concept of "infrastructure", which was selected in the 70's. XX century in a separate category because of the development of logistics services and the need for analysis of the holistic object of social planning. Highlighted approaches to understanding the concept of "social infrastructure of the region" in terms of its specific features and functions: creating the conditions employed in production, ensure normal living conditions of the population, the needs of the population, needs planning services. However, finally the concept of "social infrastructure of the region" is not formed and requires continuous improvement because of the variety of needs of the population in modern economic changes.
